End of Pacific Games 2007- Football
Football at the pacific games has ended with New Caledonia grabbing victory with a 1 -0 defeat over Fiji.I had bet my bottom dollar that Solomon Islands would win the tournament…but surprise surprise. Solomon Islands not only lost in the semi-finals but went on to lose in the Bronze medal match effectively dropping out of the race to the 2010 finals in South Africa.
New Caledonia, Fiji and Vanuatu remain in the contest for a place in the World Cup Final of 2010. The three teams will join New Zealand in the 2008 OFC Nations Cup. The overrall winner of this tournament will have to beat a team from the AFC zone for a place in the 2010 finals (See OFC Qualifiers)
